The Department of Business and Markets trains its early-career researchers within a structured doctoral program that offers a wide range of benefits.
By participating in lectures, seminars, workshops, and colloquia offered by the department and the Doctoral School NRW, doctoral candidates expand their academic expertise and strengthen their methodological and transferable skills, equipping themselves for future careers inside or outside academia
Doctoral candidates benefit from supervision by three professors, regular progress meetings, and a mandatory supervision agreement.
The department understands itself as a networking platform. Doctoral candidates exchange ideas within their own research communities and in inter- and transdisciplinary contexts.
The doctoral program focuses on key factors and work design in times of change, as well as the analysis of systems with regard to uncertainty, resilience, and institutional transformation. In addition, it addresses change and resilience from the perspective of process chains and business operations.
Doctoral candidates with a master’s degree in business administration, economics, business education, business psychology, industrial engineering, business law, or business informatics. Candidates from related disciplines such as psychology, sociology, humanities, or law may also be eligible, provided their research has a clear economic focus or relevant thematic connection.
