Gender Equality Officers

The central Gender Equality Officer represents gender equality interests for all members and affiliates of the Doctoral School NRW in matters concerning the Doctoral School NRW and ensures the integration of gender equality–related aspects in the fulfillment of its responsibilities. At the department level, these tasks are carried out by the decentralized Gender Equality Officers.

Central Gender Equality Officer

The central Gender Equality Officer is elected by the Doctoral School Senate from among all female members of the Doctoral School NRW and appointed by the Chair of the Executive Board. The term of office is three years.

The responsibilities of the central Gender Equality Officer are regulated in § 13, paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Constitution. She is particularly responsible for:

  • Representing gender equality interests for all members and affiliates of the Doctoral School NRW in matters concerning the Doctoral School NRW,
  • Ensuring the integration of gender equality–related aspects in the fulfillment of the responsibilities of the Doctoral School NRW,
  • Where applicable, cooperating with the Gender Equality Officers of the supporting universities of applied sciences.

The Gender Equality Officer may attend meetings of the Doctoral School Election Assembly, the Senate, the Board of Supporters, the Executive Board, the Department Boards, and other committees with the right to submit motions and speak; she is to be invited and informed like any other member.

Decentralized Gender Equality Officers

At the department level, the central Gender Equality Officer is supported by the decentralized Gender Equality Officers. These officers are elected by the respective Department Council from among all female members of the department. Their term of office is also three years.
