Trainer: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Konstantin Kotliar (FH Aachen)
Date: January, 13 (Tue), 20 (Tue) and 23 (Fri), 2026, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Meeting format: online (video conference), English language
Content: The workshop lasts three days, each of which will be concluded with exercises so that theory and practice are taught alternately. Contents of this workshop will be the following statistical fundamentals:
- Analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA), post-hoc tests
- Type II error, sensitivity, sample size calculation for experimental design, effect size
- Non-parametric statistical tests for comparing data
- Which test should I use, and what does it tell me?
- Simple regression and correlation analysis
- Bland-Altman plot
- Two-way ANOVA: without repeated measurements (2 factors, independent groups) and with repeated measurements (2 factors, dependent groups). Main and interaction effects.
- How and why to analyze frequencies and proportions? – Statistics for nominal scaled data.
Doctoral candidates of the department are kindly asked to register by December 17, 2025 (nora.diehl@pknrw.de).
